About this item
  • This 30mm round pacifier is fired from A-10 Warthog, also known as Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II. The 30mm bullet is fired from the GAU/8 Avenger gun at a speed of almost 70 shots per minute.
  • Gift box includes 2 pieces. A removable bullet with an OEM shell fired from an A-10. The shells are resized by hand to fit the bullet for a snug fit, allowing for enjoyable viewing and conversation.
  • Each bullet is a replica, CNC machine and hand polished and made from aerospace 6061-T6 aluminum, sourced in the USA. Made in the USA. No two shells fired the same and they come in all different colors of military specifications, with signs of wear due to high-speed power exchange within the aircraft.
  • Shells are clean and lightly polished for a glossy display. Colours may vary and there may be some light scratches due to load, unloading and extreme feed speed where bullets travel through the GAU/8 Avenger Gatling Gun.
  • Packaged with care and the perfect gift for the military collector or A-10 Demo Team fans.
  • Limited quantities as the government no longer sells shells like scrap metal to the public.
  • BRRRRT!!!! A must for the military collector! Perfect for man's cave, office or home display.
Product description

This is an INERT 2 Piece Fired Shell & Reproduction Projectile Display of the A-10 Warthog 30mm Cannon Round. A-10 Thunderbolt II is a straight-wing, single-seat, twin-turbofan subsonic attack aircraft developed for the United States Air Force (USAF). In service since 1977, named after the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, but is commonly referred to as "Mocker" or simply "Hog". [3] The A-10 was designed to provide close air support (CAS) to ground troops by attacking enemy armored vehicles, tanks, and other ground forces; it is the only aircraft built in production exclusively designed for CAS to have served with the US Air Force. [4] Its secondary mission is to direct other aircraft in attacks against ground targets, a role called forward air controller-airborne; aircraft used primarily in this role are designated OA-10. The A-10 was intended to improve the performance and firepower of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider. The Thunderbolt II cell has been designed around the high power 30mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary autocannon. The cell has been designed to last, with measures such as 1,200 pounds (540 kg) of titanium armor to protect the cockpit and aircraft systems, allowing it to absorb damage and continue flying. Its ability to take off and land from relatively short and/or unpaved runways allows operation from airstrips close to front lines and its simple design allows maintenance with minimal structures. He served in the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm), the American-led intervention against the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, where the plane stood out. The A-10s also participated in other conflicts such as the Balkans, Afghanistan, the war in Iraq and against the Islamic State in the Middle East. The A-10A single-seater variant was the only version produced, although a pre-production cell has been modified to the two-seater YA-10B prototype to test an all-season night version. In 2005, a program was launched to upgrade the remaining A-10A aircraft to the A-10C configuration, with modern avionics for use with precision weapons. The US Air Force had stated that the F-35 Lightning II would replace the A-10 when it entered service, but this remains highly controversial within the USAF and in political circles. [5] The USAF obtained Congressional permission to begin withdrawing the A-10s in 2023, but further retirements were suspended until the USAF can prove that the A-10's close air support capabilities can be replaced. The GAU-8/A Avenger is a 30mm hydraulically driven 7-cylinder seven-cylinder Gatling autocannon mounted primarily in the United States Air Force 'A-10 Thunderbolt II. Designed to destroy a wide variety of land targets, the Avenger delivers very powerful shots at high speed of fire. The GAU-8/A is also used in the weapon system of the Goalkeeper CIWS ship, which provides defense against short-range threats such as highly maneuverable missiles, planes and fast-maneuvering surface ships.
