Product description
Highly exotic in appearance, Fritillaria imperialis โRedโ (also known as Crown Imperials) is bound to stop you in your tracks! Tall, upright stems support a big crown of vibrant red flowers topped with a funky tuft of foliage for a really unusual and impressive display during spring. Despite its tropical looks, itโs fully hardy, resilient and very easy to grow. Best suited to beds and borders, plant the bulbs in autumn and look forward to an effortless performance the following spring. If you like cutting flowers to display in your home, just a few stems of this fabulous variety will be all you need for a towering indoor masterpiece! Crown Imperial bulbs are particularly fragile and should be handled carefully. Plant them in autumn in a fertile, free draining soil in full sun. The bulbs are particularly susceptible to rotting in wet soils so add plenty of grit and a little well rotted manure or compost prior to planting. Plant Fritillaria imperialis bulbs at a depth of 12cm (5") and 20cm (10") apart. Water well to settle the soil. After flowering allow the foliage to die back naturally. When leaves and stems have yellowed, cut them back to ground level. Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade Height: Up to 1.2m when fully established Spread: Up to 30cm when fully established Supplied as 3 x Fritillaria imperialis โRedโ Bulbs (Size 18/20). Delivered with growing and care instructions Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
