HMS invincible (R05) was the lead ship of her class of the three light aircraft carriers, follow by the HMS Illustrious (R06) and HMS Ark Royal (R07). HMS Invincible was first launched on 3rd May 1977 as the seventh ship to carry the name in the history of the Royal Navy, the three sister ships maintained the legacy of the British Royal Navy to the world in the second half of 20th century. From the distinctive contribution while HMS invincible served during the Falkland campaign in 1982, the supportive role HMS Ark Royal played during the Gulf war in 1991 and HMS illustrious involved in the largest operating fleet the Royal Navy had gathered before the return of Hong Kong to the Chinese government in 1997, the invincible sister ships had proven their multi-capabilities from anti-submarine warfare through air offence and defense. As for ship defense, the Invincible was equipped with a pair of Sea Dart surface to air missile launchers directly behind the Goalkeeper Gatling Gun located near the ship's bows. After returning from the Falklands War, the ship was added with two Phalanx CIWS and two Oerlikon 20mm anti-aircraft autocannons.
