fibroDAO is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) indicated for the management of fibromyalgia, muscular pain and contractures, osteopathic pain and chronic fatigue caused by deficiency of the enzyme DiAmino Oxidase (DAO). It is also indicated for the management of gastrointestinal, dermatological and muscular pathologies associated with DAO deficiency - Contains highly active and bioavailable DAO enzyme - Includes magnesium as a coadjuvant active ingredient in the management of symptoms caused by DAO deficiency - 60 CAPSULES with tablets with Gastroresistant Coating and EFICAPS Technology for Controlled Release of Active Ingredients. Foods for special medical purposes, as distinct from food supplements, are foods specially prepared or formulated and intended for the management of patients, including infants, under medical supervision, to meet all or part of the needs of patients whose ability to ingest, digest, absorb, metabolise or excrete normal foods or certain nutrients or metabolites thereof is limited, or impaired, or altered, or who require other clinically determined nutrients, and where management cannot be accomplished solely by modification of the normal diet. In the management of DAO deficiency, it is advisable to reduce the intake of certain foods due to their high content of histamine or other biogenic amines that saturate the DAO enzyme, particularly cow's milk, dairy products and citrus fruits due to their habitual recurrent consumption. It is advisable to avoid alcoholic beverages as they contain histamine and other biogenic amines to one degree or another, and alcohol is also an inhibitor of the functional activity of the DAO enzyme, which prevents the metabolisation and degradation of histamine.
