Cabbage & Brassica Collars offer excellent protection for brassicas. The Cabbage Root Fly can cause brassicas such as cabbage, cauliflowers, Brussels sprouts and broccoli to wither or stop growing and cause cauliflowers to have small heads. This happens when the wind rocking newly planted plants causes a gap round the stem at soil level. The Cabbage Root Fly enters this gaps and lays her eggs. When the eggs hatch the maggots enter the stem and roots and eat them, killing the plant. Cabbage Collars protect your plants from the Cabbage Root Fly as well as snails, slugs and other pests. They also help retain moisture around the root of the plant and will prevent weed growth around the crop head.
