Product description
Elaeagnus ebbingei, more commonly known as Oleaster, is a tough, reliable evergreen ideal for creating a strong, year round hedge. Its glossy, silver flecked leaves and fragrant autumn flowers make it one of the most attractive hedge plants for adding colour and interest to the garden. Fast growing and wind tolerant, itโs a great choice for coastal areas and exposed spots and works beautifully in both formal and informal hedges and shrubs. Supplied as healthy young plants in pots, itโs a dependable option for gardeners wanting long lasting, good looking hedging plants. For a dense, well structured hedge, plant Elaeagnus ebbingei around 60-90cm apart. This spacing allows the plants to fill out quickly while still giving each one room to develop a strong root system. If youโre creating a particularly thick screen or tackling a larger boundary, a staggered double row helps build fuller, faster forming hedging. Once planted, water the line well to help the roots settle and encourage even growth along the whole length of your hedges. Caring for Oleaster is straightforward. Keep the soil moist during the first growing season, especially in dry spells, to help the plants establish. Once settled, theyโre remarkably drought tolerant and need only occasional watering. A light trim once or twice a year keeps the shape neat and encourages dense, bushy growth. With minimal fuss, Elaeagnus ebbingei develops into a strong, attractive feature that brings structure, privacy and evergreen colour to the garden. Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
