Product description
Product Description Siliphos is an iron hydroxide based effective phosphate and silicate remover for marine and freshwater aquariums. The moist granules have an extremely high binding capacity and reliably solves phosphate and silicate-caused algae problems (lubricating and thread algae). Suitable for any type of filter. Siliphos is a fine-grained material that has been successfully used for years in industry and water management, drinking water treatment and wastewater clarification. Its highly active chemical property of adsorbing phosphates in large quantities makes it an ideal filter material for aquariums. In the aquarium, phosphates are formed by the decomposition of organic substances but also by excessive feeding, plant fertilisers or phosphate-containing decorative materials. Phosphates can also enter our aquarium by changing water with phosphate-containing tap water. Phosphate is an essential building block of living organisms, but harmful in high concentrations. In the saltwater aquarium, increased phosphate contents inhibit the lime synthesis of stone corals and lime red algae. Thanks to the nutrient enrichment, zooxanthellate corals can multiply so much that they cover the natural colour pigments of the coral. The corals turn brown. Another indication of increased phosphate and silicate (silica) concentrations is the growth of annoying red or brown algae, which often lay as a greasy coating over the decoration in the aquarium and threaten the life of various organisms. A PO4 content of over 0.1 mg/l is not to be tolerated in modern coral reef aquariums. In the marine aquarium, Siliphos is also used to bind unwanted silicates. In the freshwater aquarium, the upper limit value should be 0.3 mg/l. Increased phosphate concentrations are often to blame for various algae plagues, poor plant growth and ailing fish. 180 ml for up to 720 litres (at 0.5 mg PO4/L). Directions Use 180 ml for up to 720 litres (at 0.5 mg PO4/L). Maintain phosphate levels below 0.5 mg/L.
