The E650 is a combined drill and tap in a single tool (Combi tap), with the end of the tool as a drill to drill the hole and the middle of the tool as a tap which then threads the hole made by the drill part. In this way you ensure you drill the correct diameter hole for the thread as the two operations are done with a single tool. The E650 is manufactured from High Speed steel to give good tool life and performance, and is suitable for creating metric coarse threads from M3 to M16 in a variety of materials. The tools are all steam tempered to give you a more accurate and cleaner thread as this stops workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edges of the tool. The E650 combi tap is manufactured to Dormer standards based on those of the International Standards Organization. E650 taps are very versatile and increase efficiency as they can be used for drilling and tapping shallow holes all the way through the workpiece, both by hand with a machine, using a single tool.
