A narrow-opening glass demijohn. Intended for fermenting wine, beer, and mead, and for infusion liquors. The removable plastic casing enables washing the carboy thoroughly, while at the same time protecting the glass against shattering. The glass of which the carboys are made is sodium glass that features all the approvals for contact with food products. The advantage of glass carboys is their high tightness and possibility of “peeking” at the fermentation process. From the practical point of view, it is recommended to conduct the first fermentation in pulp in a fermentation container, and then - after the first siphoning and draining the fruit - to carry out further fermentation in a glass demijohn. How to use: Glass should not be subjected to sudden temperature shocks, as excessive difference in temperature might lead to its damage. Before use, it is recommended to store the demijohn in room temperature for at least one hour. Do not pour water with temperature above 50°C over the demijohn. It is recommended to wash glass in lukewarm water with addition of disinfecting agents such as potassium metabisulphite. Due to high stresses occurring during turbulent fermentation, it is recommended to close the demijohn during that time with a less tight cotton swab, which prevents presumptive cracking of glass. NOTE: ① Demijohn can contain natural features: air-bubbles, cracks / chips. ② Carboy can vary from batch to batch in colour and design.
