Product Description 34cm/14" larger sized Wok manufactured from Professional Heavy Gauge 1.8mm Carbon Steel which is the ideal material for Woks as it can withstand very high temperatures and ensures quick and even heat distrubution. Made with a flat base for better stability on modern hobs and supplied with two stay-cool, phenolic handles attached, making it easier to lift this larger size of wok. With its PFOA-free non-stick coating this wok does not require seasoning before you use it and is easy to keep clean. It is suitable for use on all hobs including Gas Glass/Ceramic Halogen/Ceramic Induction Solid Plate/Fuel and Hot Plate, you should always start with a medium heat (NB with Induction hobs do not use high power settings or the booster function, but gradually increase the heat as the temperature rises very quickly). Why cook with a Wok? To enjoy Asian cooking at its best you need very high temperatures, and a Wok made of Carbon Steel is ideal for this because Carbon Steel heats up quicker than stainless steel and aluminium while also being relatively light to allow easy turning of the food. Non-stick or Un-coated? Traditional Woks are un-coated, they must be seasoned carefully with a little oil before first use and thereafter periodically. The advantage of being un-coated is that higher temperatures can be reached which are in turn transferred directly to the food. On the other hand non-stick coatings make cleaning far easier and help maintain the appearance of the Wok. So, if you are a very serious Asian Cook use un-coated, otherwise non-stick will make your life easier. Standard or Heavy Gauge?
