Throughout the design process... we focused on what were already the best updated DCC motors available, the Cobalt Classic and Cobalt Classic O, and made something truly special for those who want just that little bit more... or those who prefer to use a separate control bus and computer control for layout, whilst still retaining the use of the DCC system for train driving! While the Cobalt IP may look almost the same on the outside, we have added a completely new and even quieter internal gear structure, redesigned internal electronics to add managed active drive speed and at the same time we have added our microprocessor controlled Smart Power electronics to make the Cobalt IP more capable than any point motor you have ever seen. Recognizing that not all power situations are the same, we have also made the drive voltage almost irrelevant and so the Cobalt IP also has a wide range of safe power supply voltages. It is totally comfortable with a very wide range of tracks or accessories. All Cobalt iPs leave the factory pre centered.
