About this item
- MODERN GAMEPLAY ON A CLASSIC BOARD: Transform your most beloved chessboard into a magical realm in which luck and strategy reign. Perfect for quick, intense duels that blend classic charm and modern mechanics. (Please note: A chess set is required and not included.)
- ASYMMETRY AT ITS FINEST: Command one of six unique fantasy clans competing to rule Haggedorn—that mythical forest commonly mistaken for a chessboard. While your pieces utilize classic chess shapes—pawns and rooks, knights and bishops—no two units move or behave alike. Experience vastly different paths to victory, from pushing the queen into the void to claiming sacred territories to collecting rival pawns to make your own.
- ROLL THE DIE, EVOLVE YOUR STRATEGY: This turn-based tactical game begins with a simple roll of the die to dictate movement, attacks, and retreats. Use premium metal-core fate chips to track unit abilities, boons, and curses. End your turn by slotting your die into your clan board to unlock devastating miracles, game-changing relics, and powerful auras.
- EASY TO LEARN: Bring a keen mind for strategy, but otherwise no chess experience is required. Streamlined rules are supported by handheld guides so you can unbox and set up in under 10 minutes.
- HIGH REPLAYABILITY: With six distinct clans, enjoy 15 possible matchups. From one chessboard to another and one clan to the next, every game of Darkleaf Gambit is balanced, fresh, and bursting with tactical twists. It is the ultimate addition to your collection of adult board games and tabletop variants.
- BEAUTIFUL HAND-DRAWN ARTWORK: Immerse yourself in original, dark fantasy illustrations, with every component inspired by the deepest, most magical depths of Germany's Schwarzwald.
- PERFECT GIFT FOR GAMERS: An excellent gift for avid chess players, fantasy tabletop fans, and anyone with an old chessboard yearning to be dusted off. Unlike traditional chess, the unique mechanics allow novices and grandmasters to compete on a level playing field.
- WHAT’S IN THE BOX: Includes 6 dual-layer clan boards, 36 clan-specific dice, 36 metal-core chips, 12 double-sided clan guides, 4 Haggedorn's Will cards, 20 relic tokens, and 1 divining d12 die.
- WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED: A chess set is not included, so you’ll need to have your own. Whether playing on a handcrafted family heirloom or a steal from the local thrift store, Darkleaf Gambit is compatible with any standard-size chessboard.

The package was here in Australia from England in a few days — so quick! Something was missing and they refunded it straight away. Pretty happy with these guys.
