Cup Head Carriage Bolts or Hex Bolts for Timber. 6mm x 65mm fully threaded Pack of 25 Mild Steel coach bolts have a corrosion resistant zinc coating and are ideal for 99.9% of applications. Timber is an organic product that’s constantly moving, low tensile fasteners that will accommodate this movement plus if the bolted joint isn’t allowed to flex it could snap a stiffer fastener or the local timber around the bolt. Mild steel bolts are very strong and it is virtually guaranteed that most timber will break, way before the bolt, so using high tensile bolts for timber is a wasted expense. Cup Square Hex Bolt and Nut has a rounded cup shape with a square lug underneath with a hex nut on the other end. It is this lug and large cup head that makes this bolt so useful for timber because as you tighten the lug bites into the wood and locks it to stop it turning while the large surface area cup head stops it pulling through.
