Clematis 'The President' is an easy to grow, free-flowering variety, which boasts large velvety-purple blooms with silvery undersides from June through to September. The richly coloured blooms are followed by attractive silvery seed heads, which hold well on the plant for another season of interest. Suitable for almost any aspect, this variety holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit and has maintained its popularity since its introduction in 1876. This deciduous variety is in pruning group: 2.
