Product description

On the occasion of the comet ISON, Celestron has developed the Cometron devices. Cometron FirstScope 76 โ€“ special edition of the popular classic! On the occasion of the comet ISON, which glows spectacularly in the sun, Celestron has launched the Cometron series. In addition to some new developments, there is also a classic in an elegant design and with accessories optimised for comet observation: The Cometron FirstScope 76. The original FirstScope 76 was first introduced for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 - 400 years after Galileo first pointed a telescope into the sky. Since then, it has been one of the most popular entry-level telescopes and has opened the way to astronomy for numerous star friends. The Cometron special edition differs from the standard model by the included viewfinder and the two eyepieces, which provide comparatively low magnifications of 15x and 30x - making it ideal for observing extended objects such as comets, star clusters or Milky Way. The FirstScope 76 with the two included eyepieces. A high-quality Newton telescope at an incredible price: The Celestron FirstScope is a Newton mirror telescope according to Dobson design. In Newton mirror telescopes, a specially ground (main) mirror collects the light of the celestial bodies and directs it to the eyepiece via a second (catch) mirror, which enlarges the image. The large diameter of the main mirror of 76 mm collects enough light to observe even some fainter objects such as galaxies and gas nebulae in the night sky. Magnifications of up to about 150x are reasonably possible. With short focal length eyepieces can be magnified even higher, but no further details are visible, only the image becomes darker. So don't be fooled by the "optimistic" magnification data of comparably large telescopes. The focal length is the distance that the light bundled by the telescopic mirror travels within the optical tube. The Cometron FirstScope 76 has a 300mm focal length despite its compact design. The basic equipment of the telescope includes two eyepieces with 20mm and 10mm focal length, which allow a magnification of 15x or 30x respectively. The eyepiece shows a large area of the sky, almost like binoculars - so on the one hand you can observe the expanded galaxies and nebulae that are too expanded for larger telescopes, on the other hand, it is easier to find small and compact star clusters and planets at all. For higher magnification, you can use other eyepieces sold separately. Then many star clusters are dissolved into individual stars, the planets reveal first structures, and the lunar craters look impressive. The eyepiece mount of the telescope is compatible with the 1.25 inch eyepieces common in amateur astronomy. For example, a 4mm eyepiece would provide 75x magnification and clearly show you Saturn's rings, the dance of Jupiter's moons or the lunar craters; also star clusters are then better resolved into individual stars. The Celestron FirstScope 76 has a sturdy table mount according to Dobsonian design. So the complete telescope only needs to be placed on a stable table and you can observe. The telescope can be swivelled to the right, left, up and down in its mount - completely intuitively the rotation of the earth can be compensated for and you can retrieve the stars back into the field of view again and again as they migrate through the rotation of the earth. The telescope is also suitable for solar observation with the optional special solar filter Baader Planetarium AstroSolar spotting scope filter 80 mm (ASSF 80) and then shows you the sunspots. Please note that you must only observe the sun through suitable filters to avoid eye damage, and you also need to cover or disassemble the viewfinder. Detailed German instructions (English language not guaranteed) - including star cards for every season. Click here for a larger image The best telescope uses nothing if you are not familiar with the sky. Instead of the usual short instructions in several languages, the German copies of the Cometron FirstScope 76 are accompanied by the detailed, colourful instructions of the FirstScope 76, which not only explains how to use the telescope, but also offers an introduction to astronomy. What awaits you when looking at the planets, and how big do you appear compared to our moon? The answers can be found in the instructions as well as a small moon date glass and star cards for the whole year. Some of the most beautiful objects to get started are already marked and described - so you are not at a loss under the starry sky on the first night without knowing what to see. The star maps are matched to the FirstScope and do not contain targets visible only in larger telescopes. Get started with your Celestron telescope - Exclusive to German Celestron telescopes The book Getting Started with a Celestron Telescope accompanies you through the first nights. The usual instructions only explain the operation of your telescope, but not what to do w
