Manufacturer's Description The Oceana porro prism design binocular from Celestron is a waterproof model for marine and terrestrial use. These binoculars are rubber armored and robust to protect against rough handling and for use in demanding conditions. The lenses and prisms are multi-coated on all air/glass surfaces which increase light transmission resulting in brighter and sharper images with higher contrast levels. This is vital, particularly for marine use where weather and light conditions can vary dramatically. The prisms used are large sized BAK4 porro prisms to capture the entire light cone from the large 50mm objective lenses. This means there are no issues caused by edge of field vignetting common in many BK7 prism binoculars. These features, plus the low power of 7x makes this the ideal instrument for use on a boat. The eye can recognize features at sea easier if the magnification is lower, the image is still bright in overcast conditions, dusk or dawn, and the field of view is well illuminated at the edge of the field. The eyepieces have an eye relief of 26mm, which means that the edge of the field can be seen even if the user wears spectacles. The Oceana binoculars feature individual eyepiece focusing. This means each eyepiece can be rotated and focused individually, which means that diopter adjustment becomes part of the focusing. This feature-packed model includes a compass, eyepiece reticule, and rangefinder. Individual focusing allows for extra-precise focusing adjustments for image sharpness and clarity during the use of these features. Included features permit the distance to object measurement, object dimension and magnetic direction.
