Cat Anderson was Duke Ellington s main trumpet man and high note specialist for over 20 years Cat on a Hot Tin Horn from 1958 was the first LP he cut as leader and features an orchestra with a strong trumpet front line, especially when augmented with Clark Terry on a few numbers. This is coupled with Ellingtonia for which Anderson assembled some of the finest Ellington musicians, including Ray Nance on violin.
