Decorative Solid Brass 'Letters' Letterbox Cover An ornate Art Nouveau design letter box cover with a beautiful antique look. This is a solid, and high quality letter plate. The letter flap reads LETTERS and closes by gravity. Cast from solid brass. Hand polished with an unlacquered finish. Dimensions: Width: 245mm (9½") Height: 115mm (4½") Opening: 185mm (7¼") by 44mm (1¾") Fixing hole spacing: 225mm (8?") apart Size of hole in door: 200mm (8") by 60mm (2?") Weight: 1¼kg Two fixing bolts are supplied which go through the door and screw into the rear of the letterplate. The supplied bolts are suitable for doors up to 6cm thick and can be cut to suit thinner doors. How they are made The letter plates are "sand cast" - the same process used to make the Victorian original. Molten brass is poured into sand moulds, formed using an antique pattern. When cool, the casts are hand finished and polished. This makes an authentic antique style which is not machine finished.
