Caper berries (Italian: "cucunci") are the mature fruits of the caper shrubs growing in arid climates, and are normally picked to be preserved in salt, oil or vinegar. They are traditionally eaten as a delicious appetiser. The fruits of the caper plant are carefully selected by La Nicchia. In fact, only the medium-calibre ones are used to be preserved in fine extra virgin olive oil, as they boast both the right consistency and a beautiful appearance.
