Product description
Calla palustris, commonly known as Bog Arum, is a charming and unusual marginal pond plant. Its pure white, arum-like flowers rise elegantly above glossy, heart-shaped leaves from early summer, bringing a refined beauty to the shallow edges of ponds or bog gardens. As the seasons turn, the flowers give way to dull red berries, adding continued interest into autumn. Its gently spreading habit makes it ideal for softening pond edges and covering bare patches with lush foliage. One of the few plants pollinated by snails, Calla palustris is both botanically fascinating and visually appealing. Perfect for wildlife ponds and ornamental water features, it thrives in damp or shallow aquatic zones. Once established, this hardy perennial spreads slowly by creeping stems and can be easily propagated by pushing stem tips into the soil, encouraging new growth and branching. An excellent choice for natural-style water gardens. How to Grow Instructions: Light: Full sun is best, but tolerates partial shade. Temperature: Hardy in UK climates; no protection needed in most gardens. Watering: Keep soil consistently wet or grow in shallow water up to 15cm deep. Feeding: No special feeding required; aquatic plants draw nutrients from water and soil. Humidity: Thrives in high-humidity areas near water; naturally suited to boggy conditions. Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not supplied.
