The B17 Imperial is another twist on our time-honored B17 design, with a distinctive cutout in the top of the leather developed and registered by Brooks over a century ago. In the catalogue of J.B. Brooks & Co. Dated in 1890, a model called B86 Imperial, with its unique \"registered cutting\", is described as \"a safe prevention against all perennial pressure\". Another special feature of the B17 Imperial is the perforations along the bottom edge of the leather sides, which are threaded one side with the other through a tip. This can be adjusted to maintain the shape of the saddle and provide long-term comfort. Tying the leather tip pulls the sides of the saddle closer together, conversely, loosening the tip allows the saddle sides to spread a little further apart. This lateral fine-tuning of the B17 Imperial is, of course, in addition to the usual pre- and eight-tensioning mechanism common to all. Brooks Saddles
