Bower Beams are designed to support joists where decayed timber exists and leaves the joist as strong as before and clear of the damp wall. Bower Beams can be used on joists widths ranging from approx 2" to 6". Each unit is supplied complete with two 'L' shaped plates and 16 x coach screw fixings per set (M10 x 40mm). BM17 Bower Beams supports joists cut back to 17" from the joist end. Method: Prop the joists to ground. - Cut off the damaged length (up to 17"). - Fix the pair of shouldered, galvanised plates with a few nails to the parent timber, with the plates resting on the bearing support wall. - Cut a piece of matching timber as an infill piece and drop in to the space to fill in the missing piece (Often not required in short repairs). - Complete the repair by installing the coach screws supplied to fix the plates to the timber.
