Product description
Blackberry 'Loch Ness' is a compact, thornless variety perfect for growing in patio containers or smaller gardens. This British-bred blackberry produces firm, glossy-black, conical fruits with outstanding flavour. Its upright growth habit makes it easier to manage, and the lack of thorns makes harvesting simple and pain-free. From mid-August until the first frosts, expect heavy crops of delicious berries โ up to 3.6kg (8lb) per plant. Ideal for fresh use or culinary purposes like jam-making and baking. These container-grown plants are stronger and of higher quality than field-grown stock, offering a great head start in your garden. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot with fertile, free-draining soil. Train the thornless stems onto wires or trellis supports. Keep plants well watered during establishment and apply a mulch in spring to retain moisture. After cropping, prune back fruiting canes to ground level, and tie in the new growth. Netting is recommended to protect ripening fruits from birds. Self-fertile and hardy, โLoch Nessโ is both practical and rewarding. Height: 2m (6'). Spread: 2.5m (8'). Time to cropping: 16โ20 months. Time to best yields: 28โ32 months. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not supplied.
