The classic Berberis is a fantastic plant for all gardens! This dreamy variety is loved and adored for its colour changing foliage, that will appear mostly purple and green throughout the year, until the fiery red foliage takes over in the autumnal period. You can also expect dainty yellow blooms to appear in Spring, which are loved by the pollinating insects – to then follow with plump crimson red berries for the birds to feed off! Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged. To keep hedges in good shape, trim back lightly after flowering each year. You should also remove dead, diseased or damaged growth. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
