This filter prevents cable TV interference from internet and telephony services of the cable network operator. When connected to the cable, these services are transmitted in the so-called return channel range of 5 to 65 MHz blocked by this filter. Subsequent devices receive only the pure radio and TV signal. The high-pass filter has a DC passage and can also be used in satellite reception systems.
