Also known as Masterwort, Astrantia Shaggy is a large-flowering herbaceous perennial with deeply divided lush green leaves. Small white flowers are borne in green-tipped white bracts throughout the summer months, and are a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, turning your garden into a buzzing hive of activity. These fully hardy perennial plants tolerate full sun but flourish best in partial shade. They prefer a sheltered spot in moist but well-draining soil. Water well during dry spells and avoid growing in deep shade. Astrantia plants often produce a second flush of flowers late in the season. To encourage this, deadhead spent blooms regularly and cut back foliage to ground level after flowering.
