• The grey card fulfils various purposes: it is primarily used to measure the correct exposure in difficult light situations. You can also use it for manual white balance. And it also works as a reference card for colour matching when digitally post-processing photos. The third card in the bundle is a black card. • The automatic white balance of digital cameras does not deliver optimal results in every light situation. And the presets for daylight or artificial light are also set to specific colour temperatures. These often do not correspond to the actual prevailing conditions. In both cases, you get shots with an unsightly colour cast. For this reason, you should always perform manual white balance.
• You can adjust the white balance of your camera exactly to the colour temperature of the ambient light. In this way, the already mentioned colour cast is avoided. To perform manual white balance, take a full-format reference shot of the white card and then calibrate the camera's white balance based on the recording.
