Moody psychological thriller starring Willem Dafoe as troubled, hard-drinking NYPD detective Stan Aubray, who is assigned to investigate a series of unusual murders in which the killer arranges his crime scenes in a highly artistic manner according to a visual rule known as anamorphosis, in which hidden meanings can be revealed by viewing the crime scenes from different perspectives. As the detective investigates the crime scenes, he draws closer to the heart of a mystery that may involve some painful truths from his own past.
