A striking addition to the garden, Alstroemeria Indian Summer produces clusters of large, funnel-shaped flowers in vivid copper-orange, with bright yellow inner petals marked by purple-brown streaks and speckles. The blooms rise above narrow, bronze to purplish-grey foliage, creating a strong contrast that works particularly well in borders and containers. Also known as Peruvian Lily, this clump-forming variety grows to around 75-90cm and flowers from summer into autumn. For the best results, choose a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, free-draining soil. Keep the plant well-watered while it establishes, particularly during dry spells, but avoid waterlogged conditions. Once settled, it can cope with shorter periods of dry weather, while removing faded flower stems encourages further blooms and keeps the plant tidy.
