Product description
Description Waist kitchen apron in Scottish tartan design, size cm 50x75 with two pockets. Convenient and practical it is great for use in the kitchen to prepare great dishes, for housework, to protect clothes during gardening or DIY work. Tartan was born in Scotland, precisely in the Highland area. It presents itself as a weaving of threads of different colors that are repeated within a pattern defined equal in the weft and warp: the result is a drawing composed of lines and squares with different color effects. Scots have always used tartan as a symbol of cultural belonging: Scottish society was clan-based, extended households that exhibited plaid as a traditional dress. The wool cloth was woven with colored threads to form the characteristic identifying design of one clan rather than another. Over time, the plaid has turned into kilts, the plaid skirt par excellence. The tartan is then compared to a sort of textile DNA used to recognize itself among clans: a material so much appreciated even by the English rulers that it becomes the preferred choice for packaging tablecloths and for the upholstery of the castle of Balmoral, royal residence in Scotland. Characteristic of the tartan fabric is the square design broken by rows of various colors: the diagonal armor is executed through a decorative module called "painting", created by repeating a sequence of stripes and colored lines in the sense of warp and texture. The variants are many, both in the case of the design and the raw material on which it is replicated: initially it was made exclusively with carded wool yarns, then also combed, and then also with silk yarns, cotton and artificial fibers.
