Product description Allgood Farm Premium British Pine Bark is a rich reddish coloured bark in chunky 15-35mm or medium 5-15mm grades, a natural and sustainable substrate with a huge variety of applications. Often known as Orchid Bark, these bark chippings are mildly acidic and break down very slowly in soil, meaning they improve soil texture over a long period. Pine bark is very low in nutrients so can be added to soils without risk of over-fertilising. Chunky pine bark is ideal for use with aroid plants such as Monstera, Philodendron or Pothos, or any plant which prefers highly aerated and well draining soil. The large chunks maintain soil structure and help to mimic tropical forest floor habitats. This premium grade bark also makes a beautiful pot-topper, keeping weeds and mould at bay and helping prevent soil crusting. Its soft, fibrous texture can also be used as bedding for some reptiles, small mammals, or birds. Pine bark bedding helps retain humidity, is non-toxic for most animals, and provides a naturalistic feel for animals that require a more organic environment.
