Product Description 1/72 Fairey Rotodyne Plastic model kit of a British aircraft from the 1950s. The distinctive Fairey Rotodyne was undoubtedly one of the most spectacular products in the British postwar aviation industry. It was a revolutionary large composite carry driver that was promising for both global intercity air traffic and numerous military applications in the late 1950s. The impressive-looking Rotodyne featured nozzle-driven main rotor tips used in vertical takeoff and landing, hovering and transitioning to forward flight before a pair of Napier Eland turboprops was turned on for forward flight. Despite the successful execution of over 350 test flights, only a single prototype was built before the withdrawal of state funding tragically entered the Fairey Rotodyne into the history books of aviation. 112 pieces, length built 248.3 mm / width 196.9 mm / height 93.9 mm.
