Product description
AGAPANTHUS Navy Blue Also known as Lily of the Nile, Blue African Lily or The Nile Lily and sometimes called Love Flower. Although native to South Africa Agapanthus have now spread throughout the temperate world. This easy to grow plant requires warmth, sunshine and a plentiful supply of water when growing. Very floriferous, Agapanthus Navy Blue produces umbels of beautiful tubular mid to dark blue trumpet like flowers on long elegant stems throughout August and September. Growing only about 60cms tall it is often used in mixed borders where it can receive some shelter from the taller plants but the tidy strap like foliage also makes it an ideal choice for pots and containers. Has a reputation for flowering best when slightly pot bound. Agapanthus Navy Blue prefers a site in full sun or part shade with well-drained soil and to ensure a good display of flowers in summer add some granular fertilizer when planting. Remove faded flowers and let stems die back in autumn. A mulch of organic matter such as well rotted farmyard manure or compost over the crown of the plant in late autumn will help give it some protection against frost. Plants in containers should be brought into a cold greenhouse, shed or garage during the winter months and kept virtually dry. Although it can take a couple of years for Agapanthus to establish, your patience will be rewarded with an abundance of flowers throughout the summer months. Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM). All pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. Our plants of Agapanthus Navy Blue are supplied ex. 10cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions PACK 1 PLANT IMMEDIATE DISPATCH FREE DELIVERY
