Also known as Variegated Slender Sweet Flag, Acorus Variegatus is a compact ornamental grass plant boasting long, slender leaves that arch out from the centre, creating a fountain-like effect. These semi evergreen plants hold much of their foliage through winter, adding colour and texture to damp, shady parts of the garden. The long leaves are bright green with creamy white striped margins. In summer, the foliage is decorated with subtle brown flowers around 5cm long. These ornamental grass plants are low maintenance and easy to care for. They thrive in full sun in boggy, poorly drained soil and can even be grown in aquatic baskets in the shallow edges of ponds. They are fully hardy ornamental grasses and their slow growing nature means very little pruning is required. Simply remove dead or damaged leaves as necessary.
