Acer palmatum Shaina is a deciduous shrub that bears different coloured leaves in all seasons and can be trained into and grown as a small tree. The leaves emerge as a bright red in Spring and gain a deeper shade as Summer progresses. In Autumn, a crimson-red colour begins to show on the plant. It will go on to make a great impact in your garden when it matures to reach its ultimate height and spread of between 2.5m to 4m. Acers can be cared for with relative ease. Plant in an area of partial shade and aim to avoid long periods of exposure to full sunlight. It can tolerate most soil types, requiring you keep it moist, well-drained and ensure watering is kept to a regular, consistent level.
