- SPRING WASHER: Split washer at one point and bent into a helical shape. This causes the washer to exert a spring force between the fastener's head and the substrate, which maintains the washer hard against the substrate and the bolt thread hard against the nut or substrate thread, creating more friction and resistance to rotation.
- USABILITY: Various metric size split lock washers have a left-hand helix, which means you can only use them with bolts that have right-hand threads to prevent clockwise rotation from vibration. When tightened, their uneven split ends bite into unhardened nuts and bolts for a tighter hold than curved or wave washers, but only for applications with clockwise rotation.
- STAINLES STEEL: They are used for kitchen equipment and for apparatus for the chemical industry. Steels of this grade are not suitable for use in non-oxidising acids and media containing chloride, e.g. in swimming pools and in sea water.
- SHIMS SUITABLE FOR: General purpose engineering, automotive panel fixing, building, sheet metal, plastic fabrication.
