3 Godfathers [DVD] [1948]

The fifth version of Peter B. Kyne's short story, this time directed by John Ford. Three fugitives (John Wayne, Pedro Armendariz and Harry Carey Jnr) flee across the sun-scorched Arizona desert, pursued by the gruff Sheriff Buck Sweet (Ward Bond). They come across a dying woman who is about to give birth in an abandoned wagon, and in accordance with her final wishes, the bandits take the new-born baby into their care, striving to deliver it to safety in the town of New Jerusalem.
