28mm Circlip, Internal C-Clips, Heavy Duty Retaining Rings, Carbon Steel Black Phosphate Finish Snap Rings, DIN472 Clip Retainer with Grip Holes for Inside in a Bore Installation (pack of 10)
About this item
- CIRCLIPS- Retaining rings and snap rings are fasteners that grasp elements or installations onto a shaft or in a dwelling/bore when assembled in a groove. Once it’s fixed, the exposed piece functions as a shoulder which holds the particular element or installation.
- USABILITY- Circlips, Retaining Rings and Snap Rings are now integral components of modern engineering design. Commonly used in applications that need a part to turn, spin or pivot where a bearing is used.
- MATERIAL- Snap rings or circlips are made from very high tensile material carbon steel, they are strong enough to withstand extreme pressure and heat. That is why snap rings used in the assembly of floating pistons hardly fail despite the intense movement of the conrod and the high levels of heat in the chamber.
- INSTALATION- Use snap ring pliers when installing the ring inside in a bore, you pull the ends apart and release it onto the circlip’s groove in the bore. Ideally, the size of the section of a circlip is larger than the depth of the groove to which it is installed. This makes a portion of the C-clip remain exposed to act as a shoulder for retaining the specific components or assembly either inside a housing or on the shaft.
Product description
Retaining Rings Retaining rings are metal fasteners that fit into a groove on a shaft or into a housing or bore to provide a shoulder that holds an assembly in place. The purpose of a retaining ring is to act as a shoulder to prevent the sub-component or assemblies from coming out of the shaft or housing bore, especially in mechanical power transmission assemblies. A circlip is a strong, thin C-shaped metal ring that functions as a retaining fastener on shafts and inside circular bores to retain assembly parts. However, unlike a nut or bolt that screws onto a workpiece, a circlip or C-clip snaps into a circular groove inside a bore housing or onto the shaft. This is why it is called an elastic ring because it has a high tensile strength that causes it to snap into the radial groove and stay in place. Once the ring attachment rests properly in the groove, a portion of its circumference protrudes beyond a shoulder that secures the assemblies inside the housing or on the shaft. This is why circlips are also called circlips because they hold the components of an assembly. I wrote to Bigamart's customer support and they accompanied the process of reshipping the item until it finally arrived. I felt a genuine effort to solve the problem till it was finally solved.
The package was here in Australia from England in a few days — so quick! Something was missing and they refunded it straight away. Pretty happy with these guys.
